Husbands Bosworth Parish Council

Serving the people of Husbands Bosworth

Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee is being celebrated throughout the long Bank Holiday weekend of 2nd - 5th June 2020. Husbands Bosworth Parish Council has arranged special events on Thursday 2nd June and Sunday 5th June to recognise this once-in-a-lifetime occasion. See below for further details.

This the day when beacons will be lit in cities, towns and villages all over the UK and in many Commonwealth countries.

Meet us by the Millennium Sports Pavilion on the Kilworth Road from 8.30 pm and treat yourself to a free bacon bap, veggie-burger or a soft drink. Enjoy the company of your friends and neighbours until we start to gather around the Beacon in the corner of the field.

You'll hear the strains of some music specially composed for this special occasion at around 9.40 pm, and then the official beacon-lighting will take place at 9.45 pm, in line with thousands of other beacons.

This is the day of our Big Jubilee Lunch. Meet and eat at our gathering on the Recreation Ground, in front of the Millennium Pavilion on the Kilworth Road.

In the morning, try your hand at our Walkabout the Village Quiz (pick up sheets from 10am at the Pavilion), but make sure that you're back by the Pavilion for your lunch, and to hand in your completed entry.

1.00 pm Start of our Big Jubilee Lunch. Bring all your own food and drink. Shared tables will be provided, but please bring your own chairs or stools - or maybe bring a picnic rug and enjoy sitting on the grass (ideal for little ones).

2.30 pm Winners of the Walkabout the Village Quiz will be announced.

2.35 pm Winners of the Husbands Bosworth School Artwork Competition will be announced and prizes presented for the three winners in each age group. All the entries will be on display in the Pavilion for you to admire at your leisure.

Throughout the afternoon - teas and coffees will be available in the Pavilion and there will be displays there also from various groups which meet in the village. Come and see what the groups are up to, and maybe join one!

We will also be acting as a FOODBANK Collection Point at this special lunch. All your donations of Tinned Food and Dry Goods (no fresh food please) will be passed on to Lutterworth Food Bank. Please leave your donations where marked at the Pavilion.

4.00 pm The Pavilion will close, but you're welcome to stay on the field for as long as you like.

8.00 pm The Car Park will be locked up. Hope you'll all have had a great time!

If you've any questions about this event, please use the contact details given below or visit/email the Parish Office.
