For anyone who noticed the activity today, Leics County Council has confirmed that this was equipment being removed legitimately. A suitable Waste Management company for this complex situation has now been identified, but a contract is yet to be confirmed, though this may be imminent.

Extended Construction Working Hours

The Government's Written Ministerial Statement issued on the 13 May 2020 on planning and construction hours makes it clear that local planning authorities are expected to agree requests from developers to extend construction working hours to 9pm Monday to Saturday, until the 13 May 2021. In circumstances where there are no residential propetties nearby, even longer hours can be considered.

Environment Agency Investigation On Local Farm

Leics. County Council and the Environment Agency are investigating the dumping of a huge amount of waste at Firs Farm, Welford Road. This farm, which is next to our village allotments, has had its gates secured by LCC and diggers are on site.

The new SHIRE Environment Grant scheme for 2019-20

Leicestershire County Council has launched its new SHIRE environment grant to deliver projects focused on waste prevention and reuse, reducing carbon emissions and improving biodiversity.

The tree on Boaty Hill which came down last Monday has now been cleared, so the tow path is now accessible again. This was blocking the emergency access to the Kilworth end of the canal tunnel.

This week the Canals and Rivers Trust has started some repair work on the stretch of canal towpath between the Mowsley Road bridge and the end of the tunnel.

This is good news for our poor, neglected towpath, and the even better news is that repairs will continue until Christmas so that several small sections can be improved. This will be much appreciated by the many walkers and boaters who use this... Read More »

The road resurfacing scheduled for 18/19 July did not take place. The new dates are 23 July for Highcroft and 24 July for Wells Close.

Don't forget that there will be NO PARKING OR WAITING on Bell Lane for five days from Monday 12 March until Friday 16 March by order of Leicestershire County Council Highways. This is to allow work to be done on clearing all the drains and gullies.
