Planning Applications Submitted
For more information relating to planning applications please contact the Parish Clerk
The Parish Council receives details of applications as they are submitted, allowing us to comment on them. We can submit our views (taking into account the views of local residents), but the District Council planners primarily look to us to provide local insight and may not follow our view. The public should send comments to the District Council within any deadline period. You can voice your concerns to them on any planning matter. Remember that each comment counts, and the Parish Council's combined observations count only as one comment.
Updated 'Trigger Process' for Planning Committee
New Procedures introduced by Harborough District Council mean that although all objections made through their Planning System are still considered in the same way, there is no automatic trigger point when a specific number of objections are received.
Under new guidelines, a planning application will be considered by a planning committee in any one of the following circumstances:
- If the application is "Called In" by the Ward Councillor within 28 days of the publication of the weekly list.
- If there is an application where the intended decision would depart from the adopted and up to date Development Plan.
- If the application is for 25 or more dwellings or 10,000 metres squared of commercial floorspace
The only way for members of the public to trigger a planning committee consultation on a planning application is to contact your Ward / District Councillor and request that they "Call In" the application to planning committee.
It is important that you contact your Ward/District Councillor as early as possible so that they can submit a Planning Committee request in your behalf within the allotted time frame.
You may still register any support or objections for an application using the Harborough District Council online Planning System as long as your comment is made within the relevant deadline period. Any comments will still be read and may be taken into consideration by the planner or planning committee.
