Further Information for Applicants

Husbands Bosworth Parish is a thriving community with a population of 1,145 (at the 2011 Census). It lies on the southern boundary of Leicestershire, adjoining Northamptonshire, and is within Harborough District.

It is classed as a Rural Centre, owing to the number of its facilities, which include: a Primary School; two pubs, The Bell and The Wharf; All Saints Church and St. Mary's RC Church, a Medical Centre with Pharmacy; a substantial Shop and Post Office; a Village Hall; and a bus service to Lutterworth and Market Harborough.

Leisure facilities include: a Recreation Ground with Sports Pavilion; a Tennis Club; a Football Club; 31 Allotments and an attractive stretch of the Grand Union Canal. For children and young people there are a Play Area and a Skate Park on the Recreation Ground. There are also stretches of bridleway and footpath easily reached, and a new Dog Walk is imminent.

The Parish has recently completed a Neighbourhood Plan, a very detailed document including the history, current situation and plans for the future of the parish. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has prevented this from undertaking its final stage, the Referendum by the parish population on whether or not to accept this document, at which point the Neighbourhood Plan is considered "Made".

The Parish Council consists of 6 Councillors at present, and normally meets on 11 evenings per year, mostly on the 1st Tuesday in the month. The Parish Clerk prepares the agenda and accompanying documents, minutes the meeting and subsequently writes these up.

There is a Parish Office on Mowsley Road, which is open several mornings per week, although currently the Parish Clerk is working from home. One Saturday morning a month a Councillor is available in the office on a Council Surgery basis to answer any queries from the public.

The Parish Precept for the year 2020-2021 is £65,000.

The Parish Council website has been up and running for two years now, and the new Parish Clerk will be a Site Editor, for which full training will be given.
